Lera Doederlein was born with deformed legs in Russia before being adopted by the Doederlein family. After struggling with leg braces and arm crutches, she had both legs amputated above the knee at the age of 14, and for the first time ever, sport became part of her life. Lera is now, at the age of 17, on the US Women’s National Developmental Sled Hockey Team and is also on the Challenged Athletes Foundation’s Women’s Handcycle Team. Lera is a young athlete who is definitely on the move and aiming for the stars.
