In January of 1979, the second year of the event on the island of Oahu, Lyn Lemaire became the first woman to finish the Ironman and the first woman to win the Ironman. Out of 12 finishers she took fifth place that day after cycling her way into second. This interview was recorded back in 1998 after Lyn was inducted into the Ironman Triathlon Hall of Fame at our Competitor Magazine Endurance Awards.
