Jamie Monroe went through Navy SEAL training in Coronado years ago and now he not only lives on the island with his family, he and his team from Easy Day Sports are now putting on the iconic July 4th running event that has been going on there for 41 years. One of Monroe’s first moves was to convert the longer event from a 15K to a 12K – 7.4 miles on 7/4 – and then to add a kids race and to change the name of the event to the Crown City Classic. Check out runcoronado.com for all of the details on not only the race, but also the parade, the concert, the rough water swim, and the fireworks show that make Coronado the place to be on Independence Day.
