Eric McIntyre is a 58 year old grandfather who decided to create the Pancreatic Cancer Victory Tour to honor and support his wife Liz, who is going through treatment for the disease. The plan was to ride 75 miles a day, go through 18 states and ride 7,200 miles while chronicling his journey on lazarex.org . We chatted with Eric before he left on the ride, so it was nice to re-connect to get a sense of how things are going mid-way through his ride. Besides having his bike blow off the top of his car four days into the ride and a few days of howling head winds and steep climbs, Eric is hanging tough. As he mentioned during the conversation, what he is dealing with is nothing compared to what Liz has to deal with every single day.
