Jeremy Poincenot was a 19 year old college sophomore when, over the span of just a few weeks, he lost sight in both eyes. Seven years later Jeremy has won the Blind Golf World Championship and become a talented motivational speaker. His message? “Hardship often prepares ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.”

The joy of interdependence in sport discussed by Jeremy is something that we celebrate in every tandem team partnership in the Blind Stokers Club. I’m blessed to have met Jeremy in 2009, and shared his first tandem ride – before his mom discovered blind golf. Walking the links with Jeremy and his dad (caddie, guide) is always a treat, and the Poincenot family is a treasure to know. Bob probably does not remember, but i introduced Jeremy to him at the CAF SDTC Celebration of Abilities annual awards function 5 years ago. Thanks for the interview!
