Milena Glusac was one of the nation’s top runners out of high school where she was having great success while only running 25 miles a week. When her college coaches doubled her weekly mileage, stress fractures became a constant part of her life and she ended up with a total of 13 in all. Here is a woman who ended up running 32:15 for 10k, 1:11 for half marathon and 2:31 for the marathon. How good could she have been with less running and more cross training in her life? More importantly, are high school and college track and cross country coaches still piling too many miles on too many young runners and compromising their careers?
