Before the build-up for her first marathon, Molly Huddle had never carried a water bottle with her on a long run. But, after breaking the American record at 10,000 while taking sixth in the Olympics in Rio, she began her long-distance training for the New York City Marathon, and learning to eat and drink during a long run became part of the equation. “At the Olympics, we’re just one part of a huge event,” she said. “You’re the only show at a major marathon.” And what a show! Molly took third with a 2:28:13 in her debut marathon!
