Sarah Brown spent a year and a half after a great college running career trying to come back from Achilles tendon surgery. There were points during that time where she wondered if she’d ever be able to run well again. With the support of her husband and coach Darren Brown, and a program that relied heavily on minimal running but a ton of non-impact workouts, she made it to the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials 1500 meter finals and has never looked back. Still cross training and keeping her running miles low, in early 2015 she ran the lead-off leg on the New Balance team that set a World Record for the Indoor Distance Medley Relay. Ironically, the record they broke by 8 seconds was held by the University of Tennessee and Sarah Brown – then Sarah Bowman – ran the anchor leg for the Lady Vols that day.
