Time for another edition of Talk Story with Bob Babbitt. I’m sharing some of my favorite stories that I’ve collected from my years in the wonderful world of endurance sports. This week I share the story of Jon Blais, Blazeman.
Diagnosed with ALS May 2, 2005 at the age of 33, Jon Blais died May 27, 2007, at the age of 35. To the very end he was the teacher. He taught us all about a disease that is insidious and totally ignored. And he taught us how to handle adversity. But most of all, he taught us to never, ever give up. “You can choose to be pissed off, or pissed on,” he’d say laughing. Blazeman, as always, chose the former.
