A few photos from behind the scenes of our breakfast show at the Ironman World Championship, filmed on location from beautiful Huggo’s Kona.
Bevan Docherty has won two Olympic medals, Ironman New Zealand, and has a road in Taupo named after him – Docherty Drive – but he has yet to master Ali’i Drive. Maybe 2014 will be the year he does….
Linsey Corbin brought refreshments when she visited us on the breakfast show. Beer: It’s What’s for Breakfast.
Timothy O’Donnell is working with Mark Allen and looks to be in really good form coming in to Kona this year. Can he improve on his 5th place finish in 2013? Magic 8 Ball says: Signs point to yes.
Last year on the show, we presented Coach Siri Lindley with custom hats for each of her pro athletes at Kona. We’re getting hats ready this year for Mary Beth and Jodie, too!
Mirinda Carfrae kicked off our show in 2013 by being our first guest, early Tuesday morning of race week. Mirinda would go on to win her second Ironman World Championship in a record-setting 8:52:14, putting in an impressive run of 2:50:38. Early bird gets the worm? Nah, early bird gets the trophy.
Smiles all around for 2013 second-place finishers Luke McKenzie and Rachel Joyce after they appeared on our special post-race championship edition show. Last year Luke had a breakthrough race. He’s racing now as a new dad and would love nothing more than to greet his son at the finish on Ali’i Drive as World Champion. As for Rachel, she’s been battling it out with Mirinda, and told us “Second is good, but I like winning.”
